The concept of entropy in relation to the human mind can be clarified by understanding the scientific definition of entropy, which refers to the measure of molecular disorder or randomness of a system.

The disorder of thoughts in the human mind, particularly the random thoughts, can be considered as a form of entropy, which can be disturbing and cannot be easily destroyed.

However, achieving a state of peace and rest, known as “ANANDA” in Sanskrit scriptures, can help to reduce the entropy of the mind and bring mental bliss.

Fortunately, achieving the state of ANANDA is not very difficult if one want to work towards it. The reader may try it out, step — by — step, as follows:

1. Choose the place which Ensures freedom from disturbance. It should not be sound proof, allowing some noises such as talking of people, chirping of birds, traffic noise et cetera.

2. Request your family members and friends not to disturb you for a while.

3. Spread a mat on ground or floor such that when you lie on it you feet are not towards south.

4. Lie down, be cheerful and slowly close your eyes lightly. Rest like this breathing comfortably for about 30 seconds (don’t count time as no exactness is needed and any time between 5 or 10 or … 60 seconds would do).

5. Now, start feeling that a nectar of PEACE & REST ( Shanti & Vishram) is slowly rising upwards starting from soles of feet towards head (this is against physics as you are in horizontal position rather than vertical — but for a while forget physics and it’s laws — you aren’t in a lab).

6. Concentrate your mind and feel the nectar of PEACE & REST ( Shanti & Vishram) slowly rise towards head gradually submerging your feet, then ankles — calves — knees … all parts of body upto head fully submerging you. As level of the nectar of PEACE & REST ( Shanti & Vishram) rises slowly feel that submersed body parts are getting peaceful and restful and also feel absence of the submersed body parts. As soon as the nectar reaches your head try to listen to whatever sounds are there, keep on concentrating on some sounds.

7. Remain in this condition for as long as possible and enjoy it.

8. When you desire to come back to normal state, gradually draw you mind away from sounds and feel that the level of nectar of PEACE & REST ( Shanti & Vishram) is slowly coming down from your head towards your feet.

9. When level of the nectar of PEACE & REST (Shanti & Vishram) reaches soles of your feet, forget its presence and feel your entire body. Make small movements of feet, hands and neck.

10. Now slowly open your eyes and slowly get up.

The above is called “SHAVA ASANA” which literally means “the pose of dead body”. Overall, this process can be used plentifully to bring about a state of ANANDA and reduce the entropy of the mind, leading to the state of mental wellness and deep bliss.
