ETERNITY TO ETERNITY

We humans have since ever been curious about the following:

  1. Difference between live and dead – all living beings appear same before death and just after death but something does go missing suddenly resulting in death; what’s that mysterious thing.
  2. 2. Where did the world come from? Who made it?
  3. 3. Was there a beginning of the world?
  4. 4. Are there more worlds?
  5. 5. If there was a beginning of the world then will there be an end to it?
  6. 6. If there will be an end of the world, when will it end?

The branches of study that had been trying to find answers to the above questions are religion and science.

Its interesting to delve into how various religions have tried to answer these questions.

The religions Islam, Christianity and Judaism are not pre-historical. I don’t know if there are any specific Chinese, Japanese and Korean religions.

The only prehistoric yet surviving religion to best of my knowledge is Sanatana Dharma which has got badly distorted into Hindu Religion followers of which have their Gods and Goddesses resident in various idols.

The real Sanatana Dharma based on Vedas (the four Vedas namely Rigveda, Samveda, Yajurveda and Atharvaeda) is practiced only by a handful Aryasamaj followers.

Christianity on end of days:

Both the Old and New Testaments of the Bible replete with prophecies about the end of days. For example, Matthew 24:36 says “But of days and hour no one knows, not even the angles of heavens, nor the Sun, but the Father alone.”

So there are almost as many interpretations of the apocalyptic passages in the Bible as there are scholars who’ve studied them.

Saint Cyprian of Carthage felt that end of days will be in approximately AD 250.

And there are several other such guesses.

Judaism and end of days:

The TALMUD is the collection of Jewish Law and Tradition. According to the Talmud, theWorld as we know it will exist for a total of Six Thousand Years, counting from God’s Creation of the world. Based on the Jewish Calendar the year 2008 is calculated to be the 5,765th year of the world’s existence, with the end of days to occur in 2240. The end of World, called Acharit Hayamim, in Judaism will be catastrophically violent and deadly (Personally, I fear that this may really happen – not due to any scientific reason but just as a result of nuclear warfare just caused by some mad dictator – of which there are several even as of January 2023), a wise man of the Talmud has written, “Let the end of days come, but May I not to see them”. This time of great suffering though, will usher in era of peace, holiness and global spiritual enlightenment.

Catholicism and end of days:

Though Catholics no value in trying to predict the date or year of end of days, somehow many of them believe in the end-time and it’s biblically designated sequence of events:

  1. The Resurrection of the dead,
  2. 2. The Universal Judgement,
  3. 3. The World’s destruction and
  4. 4. The Victory and Reign of the Church.
  5. The readers who may be interested may Google “PADRE PIO”, an Italian priest born in 1887, was elevated to sainthood on June 16, 2002. Of interest after Googling will be prophecy about Apocalypse delivered through him by Jesus Christ.
  6. I can go on writing and filling pages after pages by quoting a large number of such predictions.

Hindu Sanatana Dharma and end of days:

According to it time is endless. But worlds have finite life as below – from the least to the max.

Civilisation on earth comprises of “Yugas” of which there are four and the present Yugas in which we are living is known as KALI YUGA. Three Yugas of Civilisation on earth have passed. Their durations are:

KALI Yuga: 432,000 years,

DWAPARA Yuga: 864,000 years,Krishna was in this Yuga,

TRETA Yuga: 1,296,000 years, Rama was in this Yuga,

SAT Yuga: 1,728,000 years.

1 CHATURYUGA: 4,320,000 years (sum of above four).

1 MANVANTARA: 71 Chaturyugad = 30,672,000 years. (Humans came into being in beginning of the Manvantara in which we are living.)

Between two Manvantaras there is a SANDHYANSH duration of which is 1,728,000 years.

1 KALPA: 4,320,000,000 years (This is duration of a day of of Brahma and same is duration of a night). Thus a day and night of Brahma equal 8,640,000,000 years.

1 YEAR OF BRAHMA equals 3,110,400,000,000 years.

1 YEAR OF VISHNU equal 100 years of BRAHMA (311,040,000,000,000 years).

100 YEARS OF VISHNU equal 1 DAY of RUDRA (31,104,000,000,000,000 years).

1 YEAR OF RUDRA equals 1135,2960,000,000,000,000 years)

100 YEARS OF RUDRA equal 1,135,296,000,000,000,000,000 years)

This is Birth of the Universe comprising all galaxies.

However, present science has assessed as follows:-

. > Earth is 4.543 billion years old and

. > Universe is 13.7 billion years old.

Note: My knowledge of all except Hinduism is limited to my Google earned information. Therefore, there may be errors for which I beg pardon from readers and thank them in advance for their patience.
