I found the article to be well researched and logical. However, I would like to say that in Business World, CUSTOMER IS THE KING.
Therefore, strength of manufacturing, supplying, exporting … etc. may not be instrumental in making any language a WORLD LANGUAGE, rather the language of majority of buyers may be the right candidate for the position of WORLD LANGUAGE.
From this point of view English stands the best chance.
